Cutting Mat 12 by 24 inches
is a lightly frosted, flexible clear plastic with a 1 inch grid and ruler. This mat offers a standard tackiness and a 12 by 24 inch cutting area.
The purpose of a cutting mat is to hold your material firmly in place while it is being run through your cutting machine. The thinner the material being cut, the less tacky the mat should be to avoid tearing.
A cutting mat is always needed to cut scrap material. When the vinyl is not its full, original width, the mat allows the vinyl to feed into the machine properly.
This is NOT a self-healing mat intended to be used with x-acto knives or rotary cutters. It is intended for cutting Adhesive Vinyl or Heat Transfer Vinyl with a Vinyl Cutter.

Q:
How is this item shipped so it does not become damaged, creased due to being folded, etc. ? Obviously, it can be shipped flat due the size , 12" x 24". Thanks in advance.

Generally like vinyl. Loosely rolled. After laying flat a small amount of time after unpacking, it will hold it's new flat shape.
Our cutting mats are designed to be much more flexible than the competitors. It's even preferred to flip cut designs face down after applying the protective clear sheet it comes with, and rolling the mat from the decals. This prevents the paper from sticking too well and having them tear as well.

Our mats are compatible for both. You'll see in many of our Youtube videos that Matt will use ours.
Our mats are more flexible than others, so you're able to flip them face down and easily roll the mat off of decals preventing the backing from tearing and staying behind.

I'm not certain how to compare as I've never used the Cricut mats before. Compared to Silhouette mats, they're very similar. Even so with those, I'll 'season' them. You press a clean, lint free shirt to the mat a few times to tone it down a touch. The TRW mats are what I prefer though, since they're more flexible. I love flipping the mat over, and then rolling the mat off of my decal. It never tears the paper backing that way.
