Decorating ball caps and visors can be tricky, due to the curved nature and the need to get even, consistent heat and pressure to your heat-applied materials. Even using a cap press can pose some problems, depending on the press itself and which caps your customers choose. Most cap presses have a curve from left to right, but hats also have a front to back curve, which can lead to gaping between the cap and the curved platen or worse, the dreaded 'Ledge' known to most people who have attempted to press caps. We have stuffed paper towels inside the brim of the cap to help raise the area being decorated, but that isn't always consistent. We've now discovered using craft foam, which can easily be cut to size and fitted inside the cap, gives us a much flatter surface to press.
